Hyundai Verna Overview

Hyundai has launched the new Verna in India on 22nd September 2017. Prices of Hyundai’s newest sedan range from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 12.24 lakh for the petrol variants and from Rs 9.19 lakh to Rs 12.40 lakh for the diesel variants.

The petrol range of the new Verna consists of six variants in total, with two of them featuring a new 6-speed automatic transmission. The Hyundai Verna’s diesel range also consists of six variants, with two offered with a 6-speed  automatic transmission. The variant lineup is, from the base to top-end, as follows: E, EX, SX and SX (O).

The Hyundai Verna 2017 is powered by either a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine or a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. Both the engines are offered with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Hyundai Verna petrol develops 123PS @ 6400rpm and 151Nm @ 4850rpm. The petrol MT has an ARAI-certified mileage of 17.7kmpl, while the petrol AT returns 15.92kmpl.

The Hyundai Verna diesel develops 128PS @ 4000rpm and 260Nm @ 1500-3000rpm. The diesel MT has an ARAI-certified mileage of 24.75kmpl and the diesel AT returns 21.02kmpl.

Segment-first features on the new Verna include ventilated (cooled) front seats, projector fog lamps, ‘eco coating’ in the A/C vents for odour prevention and hands-free trunk operation. Other highlights include a sunroof, rear windshield curtain, keyless entry-and-go, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connected to a 6-speaker surround sound system and projector headlamps.

The Hyundai Verna joins a highly competitive C2-segment sedan category. Competition includes the very popular Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the recently facelifted Honda City. The Verna also has to deal with compact-SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Hyundai Creta.
